The eyes have it—-The Goldendoodle is a colorful dog
They’re the eyes of eagerness; happiness; long walks in the park; a belly rub; a scratch behind the ears. The Goldendoodle’s eyes radiates it’s soulful personality whether they are brown, blue, green or two different colors.
Regardless of color, the Goldendoodle has the ability to elicit a wide range of emotions from their owners. People find the Goldendoodle dog very interesting, especially when they have different colored eyes or light colored eyes. Dee Gerrish, of Goldendoodle World says, “Brown eyes is a very dominating gene for our Goldendoodles, but off and on, we see blue, green and multi colored eyes crop up. It doesn’t matter if both parents have blue eyes or if one parent has blue eyes and the other parent has green eyes. The brown eyed gene is so strong through out the lineage of our Goldendoodles that it is still difficult to have more blue eyed doodles.” Dee says, “Since 1999, I’ve learned everything I possibly could from these terrific hybrid dogs. I started my own business in 1996 right after I got out of the military and settled down in North Carolina with my husband. We are both prior military. I started my business from bare bones. Even though the last few years have been like one big roller coaster ride, all I have to do is look into the eyes of my Goldendoodles to feel better again. No other job would have afforded me the opportunity to spread so much love around the world, to so many people, for so many years.”
The eyes of the Goldendoodle provides a sense of happiness. Coming from a marketing background, Dee has been able to see what sparks the interest of those seeking these low shedding dogs. Says Dee, “By creating Goldendoodles with unique features and varying colorful eyes, we are trying to show the positive traits these dogs have. They are more than just a designer mutt.”
Dee says, “I knew I should have been on this path years before when everyone I talked to said it was my “calling”. I have the ability to see things in a different light; I love meeting and talking to new people. I’ve always loved dogs and animals in general. I’ve owned dogs since I was a little girl. The funny thing is, I was always very shy and felt awkward talking to people I didn’t know. When I talk to people about my dogs, that shyness just flies right out the window!”.
Goldendoodles who are born with green eyes are unique also. As young puppies, their eyes are actually green. As the doodle becomes older, the green eyes turn into an amber color. While chocolate Goldendoodles, as a whole, will always be born with green eyes that eventually turn amber, light apricot Goldendoodles can be born with green eyes as well. All green eyed Goldendoodles will sport a liver colored (chocolate) nose, eye trim and paw pads. Those doodles born with blue eyes are always cream or apricot (light or dark). Never will you find a black or chocolate Goldendoodle born with blue eyes. Black Goldendoodles are always born with brown eyes.

I want my Goldendoodles to help make the world a better place, no matter what color their eyes are!”, says Dee of Goldendoodle World. “I don’t think anyone can own a Goldendoodle and remain unmoved. When my dogs can’t find the homes they deserve, I take it personally hard. These dogs are very special because they act like they are so grateful to have you as their companion.”
Indeed, the Goldendoodle makes the perfect family companion regardless of what color eyes they have. It is natural that people who see them, want to bring them home. But not everyone has the capability of understanding that these dogs are very dependent upon their owners. They become lonely if they have no companionship. They can become destructive if they become bored. They will tend to bark more than usual if they are ignored. The Goldendoodle may not be everyone’s cup of tea. So many breeders tout they are hypoallergenic and non-shedding dogs when that just isn’t the case. Goldendoodles will shed, but they will shed very little. All dogs can bring in pollen from the outdoors, so owning a dog who is hypoallergenic isn’t possible. The Goldendoodle has few limitations since they are highly intelligent. Professional training makes for a perfect dog. Training is crucial for successful ownership if you have had little experience with dogs in general. If an owner is willing to devote time to their new doodle, they will own a perfect dog, even if they have one blue eye and one brown eye!
